Milestones
February 1995
SCBS was established with registered capital of Baht 100 million. The company’s objective was to take over the securities operations of Thai Thamrong Finance and Securities Co Ltd., which were transferred to the company following the Finance Ministry’s decree to separate
finance and securities businesses. SCBS increased its registered capital to Baht 250 million, and subsequently to Baht 330 million within the same year.
December 1998
In 1995, SCB began the gradual acquisition of SCBS shares from Thai Thamrong Finance Co. Ltd., culminating in 99.99% shareholding in 1998.
August 1999
SCB strengthened SCBS’s operations by increasing its registered capital to Baht 1.53 billion in September, 1999. In October 1999, following the restructuring of SCB group companies, the securities business, staff, and brokerage license number 23 held by SCB Bookclub
Securities, was transferred to SCBS.
October 2000
As Sole Financial Advisor and Sole Bookrunner of Ratchburi Electricity Generating Holding PCL, SCBS successfully placed shares of the company’s Baht 7.5 billion Initial Public Offering (IPO) through SCB’s nationwide branch network. This marked the first time in
Thailand’s financial markets history that a commercial bank’s branches were utilized in an IPO, offering unprecedented opportunity for retail investors to purchase IPO shares in a convenient format.
October 2002
SCBS began expanding its brokerage business, by opening the first branch in Chiang Mai in 2002. This was followed by 9 additional branches nationwide in the next 2 years.
September 2003
SCB Group announced its goal to become a full-service universal banking group. As a result, SCBS became responsible for all investment banking-related businesses of SCB Group, including asset management services of SCB Asset Management Co. Ltd., of which SCBS became the majority
shareholder. During the same year, SCBS won “Best Local Brokerage” award from AsiaMoney magazine.
January 2004
SCBS was authorized to further increase its registered capital to Baht 5 billion in order to further realize its goals of offering a complete range of fully-integrated investment banking services. The company undertook extensive corporate restructuring during the same year to
prepare for sustainable growth of its business.
October 2004
SCBS was Joint Financial Advisor and Joint Bookrunner for Baht 32 billion IPO of Thaioil PCL, the largest IPO to date in Thailand.
